It’s been awesome to start as a new singer in Club For Five. We new members, Eeppi and Juha, have naturally had a lot of work in learning the music and finding our own sound in it, all the time making sure that the quality of the band is maintained and even brought to a new level. But I can definately say that it’s been rewarding to work on chords, rhythms, grooves and sounds – vocal group job at it’s best, and in a very good company.
Our first all night -concert was held in Finland on International Women’s Day, and oh yes, it was great to finally be able to bring the fruit of our work to the ears and eyes of the audience. We want more!!
We also recently performed on the air in a TV-show in Finland called Suomen Paras Kuoro (The best choir in Finland), accompanied by three wonderful choirs and a great band. It was very exciting and we were very happy to have the chance to sing a classic tune by Ultra Bra.
Now we are ready to dive into the world of tangos as we start a tour in Finland together with Umo Jazz Orchestra in April. The concert consists of tangos by Toivo Kärki and Unto Mononen – two of the most legendary tango composers in Finland. The concert will have a different flavour though as the arrangements go from rock and funk to swing and bebop. Truly a different take on tango!
